Nvidia ships first Jetson Orin GPU module for engineers

The Jetson AGX Orin 32 GB production module has been used by 32 Nvidia technology partners for systems to build up production volumes but is now available in the Jetson store from retail and distribution partners worldwide for the first time.

The pricing of £817.32 in the UK (€973.00 ex VAT in the EU, $999 from Arrow in the US) compares to £435 for the previous 32GB Jetson AGX Xavier module.

The production-ready systems with options for peripherals enable customers to tackle challenges in industries from manufacturing, retail and construction to agriculture,  logistics, healthcare, smart cities, last-mile delivery and more.

The four Jetson Orin-based production modules, announced in May, include a 64GB version available in November. Two other Orin NX production modules are coming later this year.

The production systems are supported by the Jetson software stack, with the JetPack SDK that includes the CUDA-X accelerated stack as well as Isaac for robotics, DeepStream for computer vision, Riva for natural language understanding, TAO Toolkit to accelerate model development with pretrained models, and Metropolis, an application framework and developer for AI and visual data.

Developers looking for carrier boards and full hardware systems will have a range of options from AAEON, Auvidea, Connect Tech, MiiVii, Plink-AI, Realtimes and TZTEK.

Over 350 camera and sensor options are available from Allied Vision, Appropho, Basler AG, e-Con Systems, Framos, Leopard Imaging, LIPS, Robosense, Shenzhen Sensing, Stereolabs, Thundersoft, Unicorecomm and Velodyne. These can support challenging indoor/outdoor lighting conditions, as well as capabilities like lidar laser sensing for mapping, localization and navigation in robotics and autonomous machines.

Software support with device management, operating systems (Yocto & Realtime OS), AI software and toolkits is available through Allxon, Cogniteam, Concurrent Realtime, Deci AI, DriveU, Novauto, RidgeRun, and Sequitur Labs.

For connectivity with WiFi 6/6E, LTE and 5G, developers use modules from Telit, Quectel, Infineon and Silex
