Buck converters accept up to 18-V input

Aimed at industrial equipment and large household appliances, the XC9263 and XC9264 series of synchronous step-down DC/DC converters from Torex Semiconductor furnish 500 mA of output current. The devices, which incorporate an internal high-side/low-side driver transistor, have an input voltage range of 3 V to 18 V. Their output voltage ranges from 1 V to 15 V, accurate to within ±1.5%.

The XC9263 series offers PWM control, while the XC9264 series automatically switches between PWM and PFM modes based on the output current requirement. Converters achieve efficiency of 85% or higher at IOUT of 1 mA. Switching frequencies of 500 kHz, 1.2 MHz, or 2.2 MHz are available to match application requirements. A soft-start function is set internally at 1.0 ms (typical). It can also be adjusted by using an external resistor and capacitor.

Other device features include overcurrent limiting, short-circuit protection, undervoltage lockout, auto reset, thermal shutdown, and a power-good function. Both the XC9263 and XC9264 series offer a choice of SOT-25 and USP-6C packages.
